The Art of Living Well Retreat was a 6 night, 7 day travel and retreat experience in Greece. This retreat was a beautiful blend of culture, history, art, food and wellness. Our adventure began in lively, cosmopolitan Athens before retreating to the Peloponnese countryside to live among the olive groves in traditional and modern country houses that made us feel like we were returning home.
This retreat combined the best of the city and country. After two nights in the city of Athens we traveled two hours outside of Athens into the Peloponnese where we stayed in the countryside of Nafplio. It was an absolute dreamy combination.
The week-long experience began in Athens, the capital of Greece. Athens is a historical center of Europe and offers so much history and culture. We started each day with meditation and movement to energize and stretch for a day of exploration and fun. With a private guide, we explored the majestic Acropolis hill, the Parthenon, and the Acropolis museum. Our retreaters had opportunities to adventure on their own and indulge in delicious meals at local Greek restaurants.
In Athens we stayed at Xendocheio Milos, a luxury 5* boutique hotel located a few blocks away from Syntagma Square. This hotel gives Greek essence with contemporary and luxury design. We intentionally selected each accommodation to match our retreat vision and give our retreaters a relaxing and Greek experience.
Our retreat journey continued into Peloponnese to the village of Pirgotika, outside of Nafplio. We experienced the tranquility of the country while being only a fifteen minute drive from Nafplio. Nafplio is a picturesque coastal town that is greatly influenced from its time under Venetian rule. The town gave a feeling of old-world Europe mixed with Italian and Greek architecture.
Our retreaters explored Nafplio as well as experienced more art, food, wellness, and culture. We indulged in olive oil tasting, a cooking class with wine pairing, guided art workshops, daily wellness and mindfulness sessions, and an adventure into Nafplio for a seaside walk and hike up to the castle.
Our second accommodation was at Opora Country Living outside of Nafplio in the country-side. Opora Country Living offered us a landscape of rare beauty, with traditional, picturesque, romantic, and tranquil accommodations in the countryside. It was the perfect combination of traditional farmhouse meets rustic elegance. The living quarters were nestled among the olive trees and orange trees in this family-owned estate. It was a dream to wander through the grounds down lavender-lined paths and to enjoy two swimming pools, an open air pergola reserved for massages, a chapel, and a farm area at the top of a hill overlooking the beautiful countryside.
This week gave our retreaters a wonderful taste of Greece through countless curated experiences and an insider’s view of the coveted Mediterranean lifestyle. All of our senses were in for a treat as we slowed down and rejuvenated. It was simple and slow living.

“Eyia Retreats coordinated and provided the MOST wonderful travel experience to Greece. Kat’s knowledge regarding accommodations, activities, mindfulness, and slow living was perfection. Theodora’s artist’s eye and appreciation for the surrounding natural world, light, color, and textures was truly inspiring. [I] will have to go back again! A forever memory and experience in my heart and mind.” – Sara
