Every Greek island is beautiful in its own way and has something unique to offer. Here we share with you our favorite Greek islands in the Cyclades. Welcome to Eyia Retreats’ Greek Island Hopping Guide: Cyclades Edition!

What are the Cyclades Islands?

The Cyclades islands are the group of Greek islands in the Aegean Sea southeast to mainland Greece. They are easy to access by ferry from Piraeus Port, and many islands even have airport access.

When is the best time to visit the Cyclades Islands?

The best time to visit the Cyclades is sometime between late spring and early autumn. The Cyclades islands are occupied by Greek locals year round, however most of the tourist enterprises like restaurants, tavernas, bars, excursion and tours, stop operating around November and re-open around May.

How many Greek Islands should you visit?

How many islands you should visit depends on the amount of time you have in Greece. If you have one week, we recommend visiting one to two islands. If you have ten days, we recommend two to three islands. If you have two weeks, you have time to visit three to four islands. If you have a whole month, then you have time to explore six islands.

What Greek Islands should you visit?

What islands you should visit depends on what type of vacation you want: an activity filled vacation, a history filled vacation, an authentic Greek vacation, a relaxation vacation. If you have something specific in mind, contact us at Eyia Retreats and we can make your dream Greek island itinerary.

Below are our favorite islands to experience in the Cyclades.

Milos Island

Milos is the southwestern-most island of the Cyclades. It is of volcanic origin which contributes to natural landscapes like mysterious rock formations, unique soil colors, jaw dropping beaches, hot springs and caves. Milos has traditional Greek architecture along with many significant archaeological sites. We love to stay at Phos Suites or Milos Breeze. We have been hosting retreats in Pollonia, Milos for over six years. Contact us for special dining reservations and to get all the ins and outs of Milos, Island.

Paros Island

Paros is a central island of the Cyclades. It is known for its impressive landscape, beautiful beaches with crystal clear water and for its wind, making it a hotspot for windsurfers. Paros has an incredible history with many artifacts and archaeological sites you can visit across the island. There is also a thriving island night life for those that want to go out at night. We love to stay at an Eyia client favorite, Parocks Luxury Hotel + Spa. Check out our Parocks Hotel Review. Contact us for booking to get special exclusive amentities and all the support for your trip.

Amorgos Island

Amorgos is the easternmost island of the cyclades. It has no airport, making it longer and harder to get to, also making it less touristy compared to other Cyclades Islands. Amorgos is known for having preserved its long cultural history and traditions, for its breathtaking beaches and for the Panagia Hozoviotissa Monastery. This Monastery was incredibly built high into the cliffs above the crystal clear sea, giving you an unbelievable view that is breathtaking. We have been to Amorgos a dozen times and we cannot get enough. In Aegialis, we love staying at the 5 star Aegialis Hotel and Spa. Contact us to get the insiders tips and recommendations for Amorgos.

Koufonisia Island

Koufonisia has three islands: Ano Koufonisia (the upper island), Kato Koufonisia (the lower island), and Keros. Keros is uninhabited and a protected archaeological site where great ancient artifacts were unearthed. Ano Koufonisia, the main island, is known for its pristine and picturesque sandy beaches, small natural seawater pools with turquoise water and for being a small island – you can explore the entire island by foot, bike or boat in just three hours! In Koufonisia, we love to stay at Eros Keros. We adore the owner and know they will make you feel right at home. Contact us to get access to special amentities and bookings on your trip to Koufonisia!

Folegandros

Folegandros, one of the most western and smallest Cyclades islands, is known for its stone-paved streets and villages’ traditional architecture. It has varied landscape including tall cliffs, huge caves, and of course, beautiful beaches only accessible by foot or boat. In Folegandros, we love Gundari 5 star Luxury Hotel. We have accomodation recommendations for everything from boutique stays to full wellness immersions, from cliff high views to sea front properties. Contact us to make your dream trip to Folegandros!
