5 Travel Necessities - Eyia Retreats

Traveling is a privilege, it’s fun, and it’s adventurous. But let’s be real, it can also be stressful, overwhelming, and tiring. We do our best to take care of ourselves before, during, and after traveling so that we are feeling our best, or at least not our worst. We’ve learned a lot of the years and countless air miles, and we want to share with you. Here are five of our favorite travel necessities to help you live your best travel life.

1. Compression Socks

Compression socks help your body in many ways when you are traveling. Their main purpose is to improve your circulation, which keeps oxygen-rich blood flowing in your body. This helps prevent and reduce pain and discomfort in your legs and reduce swelling in your legs, feet and ankles. Compression socks prevent blood clots when you sit or stand for long periods and they lessen dizziness when you stand up. We highly recommend it for any length of flight.

2. Time Shifter App

The Time Shifter app, aka the jet lag app, is worth the download. It helps optimize your sleep, alertness, health, and quality of life. The time shifter app uses light cues, which are the only way to naturally reset your circadian clock and address jet lag. Jet lag is a ‘circadian rhythm disorder, a temporary disruption of the 24-hour rhythms in your brain and body’. The Time Shifter app helps restore your circadian rhythm so you are functioning at your best and enjoy your travels to the fullest!

3. Reusable Water Bottle

Most likely you already have a reusable water bottle, but if you don’t, they are worth the investment for your health and for our planet. Over half of the human body is water. We are water; we need water. It is an essential not only for survival but also for thriving. It is easy to get dehydrated while you are traveling, so stay on top of your hydration game and drink up as much as you can, while reducing plastic waste.

4. Electrolytes

Speaking of hydration… add electrolytes to your reusable water bottle. Electrolytes are a game changer when it comes to travel. They support hydration and prevent dehydration. They regulate blood pressure and prevent blood clotting. They help balance blood pH levels and support heart health. They also help promote quality sleep, which is important to feel your best. Electrolytes strengthen your immune system and help reduce stress and anxiety. A pack of electrolytes a day will keep the doctor away.

5. Safe Sunscreen

We recommend safe sunscreen for any time of year you travel. Sunscreen should be worn every single day, at least on your face. The products you use on your skin get absorbed into your bloodstream, so you want natural ingredients. Safe sunscreens use mineral-based ingredients instead of chemical-based, making them gentler, more moisturizing, non-irritating, and most importantly, non-toxic. Protect your precious skin from UV damage.
