About Amorgos

Sparkling crystal clear blue waters, mountain cliffs falling into the sea, untouched beautiful nature… Amorgos, Greece will take your breath away. The island offers delicious and fresh local food, warm and friendly people, and breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.

Amorgos is an old, charming, and magical island at the southern eastern tip of the Cyclades. Since the end of the 4th millennium BC there are traces of human presence on Amorgos. It is full of revitalizing and restoring energy, making it the perfect place for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual rejuvenation. Amorgos is also full of goats! Get ready to stop traffic for them, as they outnumber people on the island twelve to one.

Traveling to Amorgos

With a remote location, it is very peaceful and not touristy. There is no airport on Amorgos, which allows the island to not get overcrowded, even during high season. Amorgos has a short high season, July-August. The shoulder seasons – March, April, May, June, September, and October – are very tame and quiet, allowing you to connect with the island and its locals.

To get to Amorgos you have to take a ferry. The island has two ports, Aegialis and the main port, Katapola. You can take the ferry from Athens Port, Piraeus, to Amorgos. You can also fly to one of the neighboring islands, like Naxos or Santorini, and from there take a shorter ferry to Amorgos.

What to See and Do in Amorgos

When visiting the island, most visit the stunning Panagia Hozoviotissa, a 10-century monastery built up high into the rocky cliffside. It is a must see, along with the capitol, Chora, that has quaint village vibes, delicious tavernas, and beautiful sunset views. There are many incredibly beautiful beaches to spend your days at like Mourou, Agia Anna, Agios Pavlos, Aegiali, Levrossos, and so many more! Some beaches are organized and some are unorganized.
